And the second,
The earlier method is working no more.
Before 2016, MyIMMs visa check by passport number link was a common way to check Malaysia visa status.
Perhaps it was the only link used to access data for almost all type of visas and passes. i.e. work permits, calling, etc.
And on one fine moring, they just stopped the general public access via this link.
Now, on visiting that link (Malaysian Immigration’s former website), you’ll be bounced by an error page:
Because there is no such declaration by MOE Malaysia about the shut-downing. There is certainly nothing much to talk about it.
And now EMGS tracking is the new alternative & the only way for the Malaysia Student Visa Check online.

Pretty Awesome! hah.
Now Let’s See What Events Can Occur.
4 Important Stages of Malaysia Visa Process
Here’re four important stages every student goes through that.
#1: Obtaining the Offer Letter
On submitting the admission application to a Malaysian institution (i.e. College, University, etc.), they will initiate your admission process.
This could take up to 30 days and you’ll be issued an ‘Offer Letter’ from the said institution.
#2: Applying for the VAL
On receiving the Offer Letter, the students can apply for their ‘Visa Approval Letter’ (VAL).
Again, here comes in EMGS (Education Malaysia Global Services).
After paying EMGS fee, the students can make the submission to EMGS along with their all required documents (i.e. Photographs, Colored copy of passport, Testimonials, etc.)
Keep in mind, all documents should be attested by ‘Notary Public’.
On receiving the application, EMGS (An Institute of Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia) will scrutinize & examine all the data provided there.
In a few hours of submission, the information of the student will be updated in the EMGS database.
And it’ll be available to access through the EMGS status check website also.
Are you concerned about ‘Pertanyaan Status Permohonan’?
Well, after the submission to EMGS, the students can start tracking their visa application status anytime.
[Please refer to the guide above to track your International student visa.]
Which, on hitting the 70%, the students will be issued the VAL. This can take 3-4 weeks further.
I recommend you to stay tuned and visit the EMGS website occasionally.
Because, once your application is in their hands, its record will be available for you on the web with all lateral updates.
#3: Getting Your Visa Stamped
Once they have the VAL, the students can apply to get a Visa sticker on their passport from Malaysian High Commission in their home country.
#4: Buying One Way Ticket to Malaysia
Boom!
You now have all the permissions to land in Malaysia and study in their highly accredited educational institutions.

What are the common errors and omissions relating to checking Malaysia’s visa status?
While checking Malaysia visa status you may face many errors or problems. Here are the most common issues related to checking Malaysia’s visa status:
- Unusual Processing Delays:
You may experience unexpected or unusual delays in your visa application processing time. It may even take a little longer than the expected timeframe.
Why? Well, there can be many reasons. In particular, it may be due to a high volume of visa applications or limited staff available.
Or it may be due to holidays or other internal or administrative reasons. So applicants may face delays in receiving status updates for their visa application. - Insufficient/ Incorrect Details:
Applicants occasionally input incorrect information by mistake during the visa application process.
For example, entering incorrect passport numbers or misspelling names is very common.
These minor mistakes may result in errors when checking visa status.
When the information provided does not match the information in the records. It disrupts the normal process, causing extra lags and latencies. - Technical Malfunctionings:
Technical issues like downtimes or busy servers are not rocket science. It may affect the online systems for checking Malaysia visa status as well.
In such a situation, you may be unable to access the website or get your visa status information. But there’s nothing to panic about.
Usually, these sorts of issues are quite temporary. Downtimes are gonna over soon and servers are gonna back online like ever before. - Communication Failures:
Now this is interesting.
Interacting with an embassy during the visa application process involves continuous two-way communication.
And that communication is actually very typical.
So when the embassy or consulate needs you to submit more information to process your visa. They usually communicate through the typical means of email or postal mail.
Missing that particular email/postal mail asking for a submission breaks that communication. That leads to uncertainty and ambiguity - Poor/Partial Documentation:
Oftentimes applicants rush to submit their visa applications mostly with improper documentation.
They may face a possible visa rejection or have their visa application placed on hold.
In both cases, the applicant’s visa status will not be available online. If your visa application is rejected, you’ll likely see anything about it online.
But if it is put on hold, you’ll not see your visa status till you provide the required documents or details.
A Word of WARNING to Everyone
At this very point, you should also understand and be aware of the scam factor of the internet.
Some dishonest and fraudulent people have set up the similar but fake websites to bluff the innocent students.
These websites have almost the same appearance and layout as the real does have, but they’re the forged ones actually.
How to Check Malaysia Visa is Original or Fake
First and foremost.
Run a Malaysia Visa Check online from the Official Portal of Higher Education Malaysia. (Look above into the Malaysia Visa Check Guide)
If you find your record in their database, you can predict that your Malaysia Visa is Original.
But if it fails to return anything about you, this is probably a big signal that your Visa is Fake.
Remember that, if you are pursuing your higher education abroad to Malaysia. You need to have a Valid study visa (student pass) with you.
For this, a proper malaysia visa verification is inevitable. So, make sure to run a visa check online before leaving your home country.
We will keep telling you about the new updates, all the precautionary measures to avoid these scams. And lifehacks to identify these scammers.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
If for any reason you prefer it offline. Here’s How to check your Malaysia visa status offline in 3 easy steps.
Step 1.
Locate your nearest embassy, consulate, or mission from Malaysia for your country. You can fetch the contact number of the Malaysian embassy in your area from the local operator.
Other than that you can collect the concerned Malaysian embassy’s information online. Or by visiting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia’s official website. Which is kln.gov.my
Step 2.
Once located, visit the embassy during office hours. Also, be sure to carry the important personal documents you might ask to present.
These can typically be your national ID, passport, or any of the visa documents required for a visa inquiry. However, keep your visa application number or reference number handy during your visit.
Step 3.
After verifying the given information, the visa consular will be able to help you with visa info. For example, your Malaysia visa status, validity, approval, or various other visa stages.
You may perform a Malaysia visa check and find out that your application has been rejected. While such a situation can be frustrating for you but a visa application rejection is not the end of the world.
Here are a few things you can do if your Malaysia visa application gets rejected:
- Review Your Application:
First, catch your breath and try to find out the shortcomings left in your application.
The Immigration authorities also often mention some observations regarding the visa application rejection. A good start is to read those remarks carefully and try to figure out the basis on which your refusal would be made. - Go into Appeal:
In most cases, the rejection could be because of an incomplete application. There could be some missing documents, some missing or incorrect information, etc.
If the authorities just need the missing info or document from you. Then submit the missing details. That’s all.
But if your visa is rejected with a strong allegation, there’s usually a chance to appeal. Consider going into the appeal with all the supportive documentation to satisfy them.
And last, if there’s no submission or appeal window opened. There must be a timeline after which one can reapply. Think of going that way. - Seek Professional Help:
Seeking professional help is a good idea when you think the matter is now beyond your pay grade.
Consult a professional visa consultant having expertise in Malaysian immigration matters. They will look into your case and provide you with the best legal advice possible in your situation.
There’s no way you can renew your Malaysia visa while staying in Malaysia. There’s no such thing that exists so far. You must leave the country once to renew your Malaysia visa pass.
However, in some cases an extension for a visa while staying in Malaysia is possible.
For example, a special extension can be granted by the border authorities. The transit visa can be extended on some occasions. Or extension of visas for those students who enroll in a new course after completing one, etc.
Well as there are several ways to check Malaysia visa status so do its validity, one of which is online. Whenever you run a Malaysia visa check online to know the visa status, it also comes with a validity column.
Rest assured, here are the visa validities for every Malaysian visa type. AKA the duration for which a certain Malaysia visa holder can stay in Malaysia.
- Transit Visa:
These are for the transitory purposes and are offered for a relatively short period. A Malaysian transit visa can be valid for a couple of days roughly from 1-3 days. - Tourist Visa:
Tourist visas offer more extended stays than transit visas. It can go from 1 month to as long as 3 months for a single-entry tourist visa. And from 1 month to 3 months, 6 months, up to 1-year time-slot of multiple-entry tourist visas. - Student Pass Visa:
Malaysian student visas cover the duration of the study programs enrolled in Malaysia. Let’s say it is a short-term certification program that can last up to a month, then it would be a 1-month study visa.
For longer academic programs or degrees, it would be longer, covering the whole study time. If after completing a degree/program you enroll in another program, it could be even extended. - Employment Visa:
As mentioned Malaysian student visas cover the stay for the duration of a study program. Same way, Malaysian employment visas or work permits are for employment duration only.
So if your employment contract is for 1 year, your Malaysian work permit would allow a stay for up to a year, and so on.
Depending upon the job, type, and employer, a Malaysian employment visa could be valid for as good as up to 10 years. - Long Term Social Visit Visa:
This visa type is for those students or workers living in Malaysia whose families want to live with them.
The validity of this visa type is exactly for the duration of that student or worker’s visa duration.
That’s why sometimes it is also referred to as a dependent visa and a student or worker visa as the primary visa. - Business Visa:
A Malaysian business visa can be valid for 1-3 months shorter stays or 6-12 months longer stays. Similarly, it could be a single-entry business visa or a multiple-entry business visa. - MM2H Visa:
Malaysia My 2nd Home, people also call it an investor visa because it requires an investment. This is a multiple-entry visa that is valid for 10 years and if wished can be extended further.

I would like to take your advice about my case. I am unable to process my evisa via Malaysian evisa portal due to some scam website used my passport number and block my passport number, so I can’t apply further.
This information was given by immi. website chat box. Even though I did not pay to this website never shared any documents with them, but they blocked my passport number.
Is there any way to come out of such a situation?

Hi Khuram.
You better should visit the Malaysia Electronic Visa Facilitation & Services website again. Hit the Live Chat Support button and talk to the Live Chat Operator.
Explain to him/her your situation and current status. Ask for the right point of contact to launch the appeal against your passport block.
After that, you should go into the appeal process and that’s how you can get a lead to unblock your Passport.
I hope it helps.
Thanks.

Hi good morning,
Is it normal the visa sticker already done but in the system still approval stage? Is it normal the system still approval the stage?
Because I was thinking it’s fake. The visa issued on 07 September 2020.

Hello, Good Morning, Kim.
As far as If I could understand you, you’re talking about the visa sticker done in your own country from the embassy. Right?
Well, if that is so, this is exactly how things work. Once you reach Malaysia, another sticker will be affixed to your passport. And after that, the system will reflect the approval stage to 100 percent.

Do you believe in miracles, Anna?
If nothing goes wrong, it usually takes 3-4 weeks before you’re issued a visa approval letter.
Once you got that, it can further take a couple of days to get you your visa stamped from your origin/home country.
So, to answer if your visa will be approved before the 17th? Well, maybe. With the least possibility but mayhap.
Just keep your hopes alive, good luck.

Malaysia eVisa or electronic visa falls into the tourist visa category. So, EMGS won’t reflect your record there. However, the least thing you can do is try contacting MakeMyTrip and inform them about your concerns.
Also, please refer to the official webpage of Malaysia’s immigration department for more information about Malaysia eVisa approval process, eligibility, and validity. Thanks.

The university that has applied for my VAL sent the application to EMGS to cancel my VAL. However, how do I know whether my VAL is cancelled by the Malaysian immigration department? How can I track it?
Editorial Staff
September 9, 2018 at 6:33 am
You can contact them directly and they’d be happy to assist in this matter.
Email EMGS and ask for the confirmation. They usually reply within 48 hours.
Or even better, call them and ask whether or not they have entertained your University’s request to cancel your VAL.
It’d more likely be a discretionary decision and obviously there’s no harm in making an inquiry related to the self.

I’m already in Malaysia… my current application status is 100%. They saying Student pass issued for me…..What is the student pass??? Can I collect my passport from my institution??
Editorial Staff
September 4, 2018 at 10:54 pm
That’s right. Application status 100% usually means that your job is done. Your passport is returned to your institution with the visa sticker pasted on it and probably ready for you to collect.
A student pass is a student visa, simple. But if you’ve something else in your mind, feel free to add in more details and we’d be happy to help with the best of our knowledge.

I had applied through an agent for higher studies in Malaysia at Nottingham University. On 16th Aug 2018, it shows that my eval is 35% confirmed and will take 7 to 10days to finalize. Today that is 27th Aug 2018 it showed as 35% and later at 13:00 pm Dhaka local time it showed as Rejected. What to do now? Please advice
Editorial Staff
August 28, 2018 at 11:15 am
The first point of contact would be the agent. If it shows rejected while no particular reason is presented or any direction is given. Then it most likely has to do with your University or Institution.
For example, it may be because EMGS would have required some actions (e.g. fee or documents submission, license renewal.) from your University and it failed to respond on time, etc.
And if you still feel the need, you can directly approach your University contacts given in your offer letter from the University.
However, EMGS HELPLINE is also open for assistance on Mon-Sun from 9am to 8pm with no off on public holidays.

Calling visa or simply calling is an authorization or approval from the Director General of Immigration Malaysia. Every applicant must first obtain this before applying for a visa.

I got a TE Visa from an agent, for a labour work in a restaurant. It’s labeled as “Single Entry Visa”. I just want to know what it means.

A person holding a Single Entry Visa is eligible to enter the country just one time only. Once left, he may need a new visa to re-enter the country.
Guess we have shared enough details in the article that’ll help you judge either if the visa in your hand is original or not.
But as a rule of thumb, if the source is credible, chances are it would also be. Good luck!

How can I check my sticker visa (student pass) of Malaysia?
Editorial Staff
July 20, 2018 at 11:42 pm
Not sure which one (sticker visa) are you concerned about? But there could be two possibilities in case of Malaysia student visa.
The one that is usually affixed on your passport by the Malaysian embassy within your own country? And the other is appended to your passport by the Malaysian immigration on reaching Malaysia.
The first one here can be tracked by the tracking number given to you on the submission of your passport. While the EMGS helps in tracking the lateral. Right from receiving your passport till its successful delivery to your institution, EMGS will update the status every time. Just look into your current status under the ‘Application Progress History’.

Can your student visa still be rejected in your home country even when your VAL is approved?
Editorial Staff
July 3, 2018 at 10:04 pm
Though it is unusual (rarely reported). But because a consular officer is obligated to provide their official decision. So, after reviewing the documentation presented as well as the results of the interview, they may decide to denegate your visa (even if your VAL is previously approved).
However, if they do. They may also inform you either if you can go for an appeal or whether and when will you be entitled to reapply for the visa.

How to check I am blacklist in Malaysia pals?
Editorial Staff
June 27, 2018 at 8:04 pm
Did you mean How to check if you are blacklisted in Malaysia and barred to enter in the country? Or barred to leave the country?
Well, to check if or you are blacklisted from entering in the country, there are two things you can do.
First, contact to your nearest Embassy, High Commission or Consulate General of Malaysia.
And the second, ask them to check your current immigration status for you.
They’d more likely be able to provide you the information about your blacklist status. And also whether or which government agency passed those orders against you.
To check if you’re blacklisted in Malaysia and barred to leave the country:
1. Visit Sistem Semakan Perjalanan Imigresen (SSPI) or Immigration Travel Checking System of Malaysia:
http://sspi.imi.gov.my/sspi/
2. Enter your ID number.
3. Press ‘Semak’.
It’ll return your current blacklist status.

I wonder why I couldn’t track my application. It shows that there is no record found but my institution told me that they have submitted my application and I should be able to check it by yesterday or today. I already submitted my documents and done the payment as well. What should I do next?
Editorial Staff
June 27, 2018 at 8:00 pm
This is quite unusual but it sometimes can take a little longer to update your details in their records.
Allow it 12 to 24 hours more and it should start reflecting your information during or after that. But if it isn’t, you should contact your institution again. Or reach out to EMGS directly with your particulars for further investigation.

How can I check if my visa is original?

Hey, Tochukwu.
Go to their official website, enter your passport number, and hit check.
If it returns the information that matches yours. Then you can call it original.
Read more on that in the FAQ section of this page. Especially, about the fake websites that claim to be official. Beware of them as well.
Thanks.

Which visa category are we talking about? The Malaysian immigration’s link for general visa inquiry is down for a quite long now, as explained above.
As a rule of thumb, the channel through which you’ve applied to the immigration for the renewal can help in getting your status.
For student visa, renewal applications are usually entertained through the concerned educational institutes. So, the institute would be the main point of contact in such scenario.

My val application is rejected by immigration in Malaysia

A number of students (including Jeg) have been reported facing the similar issues for the last few weeks. As their VALs are getting rejected without presenting any reason and EMGS isn’t even answering to their respective institutions.
Many professionals believe that it would be something to do with the ongoing elections in the country. And that everything would be just fine after the dust settles and the new Government takes the charge.

Rechecking your application file thoroughly, removing (if find any error) and resubmission would always be a wise thing to do after the rejection.

I’ve applied for the visa last two weeks on 21/05/2017. I’ve been trying to check and track my application status but no information is coming out. What do I do next? Thanks and God bless.

Thank you, Aishatu.
Chance are, your application may have skipped during the submission process. It’s common. So make sure if your institution has made the proper (on time) submission of your application to EMGS.
OR
Try confirming your visa type. EMGS facilitates only student visa passes at the moment.

May I know how many days does it take immigration to approve VAL
Editorial Staff

It varies from case to case. But usually, it can take up to 20 business days or more. Above all, it is the discretionary act of the immigration.

Now that is kind of confusing, Ayesha.
If what you mean is EMGS, then you’re not alone. More & more of the students are voting it unsatisfactory. This method does not offer that level of user control as MyIMMS e-services used to give in the past. Perhaps EMGS is more likely only for the new applicants where you can’t access the current status of past visa applications.
On the other hand, if you’ve noticed some flaws in this guide please let us know what are they? We’ll appreciate if you plz stop by and drop in some details. Thanks!

I have submitted my passport for renewal.
How can I track my renewal process stage?
I’m from Bangladesh.
Editorial Staff
April 20, 2016 at 1:03 pm
Unfortunately, you can’t do it at the moment.
There is no other way else myIMMs e-services, to get it done on your own. You need to contact your institute, they are able to make a direct contact with Immigration.
However, we will update this guide as soon as we hear/know more from Immigration of Malaysia. Thank You!

Spotting a scam can be tricky but you can figure out yourself if you pay a close attention. Some common symptoms of a scam are: too good to be true, asking for a quick response, a vague point of contact, etc. If it triggers to be a scam, try joining the dots and looking it in the scam context.

Since checking visa status online involves one’s personal information, I suggest, do it yourself or someone you trust.
And please avoid sharing your sensitive personal information online.
However, I can gladly help at any step of this tutorial that you couldn’t understand or if you have any sorta questions relating to that. Thank you.

This could probably because of a visa type other than the one that is explained in this post. Please double check and confirm the type of the visa you just received.
